Sema Yayla
Sema Yayla is an artist and academician who brings contemporary painting practice and academic research together on an interdisciplinary ground. While her painting practice revolves around the concepts of memory, space, time, and transformation, she enriches her artistic production with philosophical, psychological, and literary layers.
Born in Eşme in 1992, the artist completed her bachelor's degree at Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting in 2015. In 2018, she graduated from Hacettepe University Graduate School of Fine Arts Painting Master's Program with her thesis titled "Hypercube as an Artistic Problem: Poetic Universe". In 2022, she completed her second master's degree in the interdisciplinary Design Studies program at Uşak University with the thesis "Conceptual Art: Interpretation of Western-Centric Art Understanding in Chinese Art". She continues her studies at Hacettepe University Graduate School of Fine Arts Painting Proficiency in Art (PhD) program on her doctoral thesis titled "A Dialogue in Contemporary Art: Image in East-West Interaction".
She served as a Guest Lecturer at Uşak University Faculty of Fine Arts between 2021-2022, and has participated in many national and international group exhibitions, scientific symposiums, and design workshops.
